The second most important wetland/bird reserve in Catalunya, where you can wonder around the reserve visiting the many hides giving you a chance to see a huge variety of birds and other wildlife. The centre was set up to reintroduce the stork to this area and you will see these birds as well as maybe wild flamingos, marsh harriers, kingfishers a large variety of ducks, herons and birds of prey. The reserve is also home to Carmargue horses, deer and wild boar.

Val De Nuria

90 minute drive

At the little town of Ribes de Freser you can take the rack railway (approx €20 per person) which climbs up to the Val de Nuria through spectacular scenery, the train takes about 30 minutes and leaves you to explore on foot. A cable car ride is included in the train fare and there are several walks to take you around the area.
In the summer there are pony rides, a boating lake, a childrens play area and a small number of animals including the Catalan donkey and the Pyranean Mountain dog.
In the winter you can ski if you want to.
The visitor centre has exhibitions, shops, cafes and restaurants.

Barcelona

You can take the train to Barcelona from Figueres where you can explore the famous city. You can visit the Gaudi Houses and the Sagrada Familia, wander down The Rambla and watch the street entertainers including the fantastic”living” statues. You can visit the port and the Gothic Quarter, take an open top bus tour and so much more.

Girona

1 Hour by train or car

Girona is well worth a visit, you can wander round the old town with its narrow, cobbled streets. The cathedral is well worth a visit and you can climb the city walls for a bird’s eye view of the city.
There is plenty of shopping to be done in both the old and new parts of the city.

Figueres

Figueres

15 minute drive

Figueres is our local town and an interesting place to explore, Tuesdays and Thursdays are market days and there is also the famous Dali museum here. There are a good variety of shops, but don’t forget they are closed from 1 until 4 o’clock.
